As a part of Anderson University’s unique Residential Masters of Business Administration (RMBA) program, students are required to obtain a co-op position with a local organization. Current RMBA student Blake Pieratt has the unique opportunity this year of working with Anderson University’s Alumni Office as their Marketing Assistant.
I was initially drawn to the RMBA program due to the length of time to get my MBA. I was intrigued to get my masters as quickly as possible and when I heard about the program it caught my attention right away, but the best part about the program so far for me would have to be our cohort. I came from a university that was a commuter school so I never got to experience the “college life” by living on my own in an apartment or dorm. I really enjoy the people I am with and we are all unique in a certain way but we all have a common goal and that is to get out MBA.
As the Marketing Assistant I am responsible to: conduct email and event marketing for alumni, develop for the AU Parent Connection and Alumni News email newsletters which reach 15,000 parents and alumni, and creating/maintaining event registration webpages. After graduation I am going to pursue a career within the sporting industry. I would like to be within collegiate athletics but I am keeping an open mind about what is out there and coupled with my ability to travel to where I need to for my career, I feel that my time here at Anderson University is just what I need to get where I am going.
My dream job would have to be being the Director of Athletics for a Division 1 University. I have been active in athletics my whole life as an athlete, coach and managing various sporting events. I enjoy being around sporting events but I have always enjoyed the behind the scenes preparation that goes into getting an event ready for those to enjoy. And with my MBA it will help me separate from other candidates to get myself into a position to work towards my dream career in the sporting industry. My MBA will separate me from other candidates as I move towards my dream of working in the sporting industry.
