“Prosper Where You’re Planted” | Doug True, CEO of FORUM Credit Union

ImageBeginning as a management trainee in 1988, Doug True has remained at FORUM Credit Union and is now the company’s CEO. As a believer in prospering where you’re planted, he has served in multiple leadership positions at FORUM and even helped develop TAPS, a lending software business sold to Akcelerant Software LLC in 2008. True began to develop TAPS in his business plan development course while studying for his MBA at Anderson University. He graduated from the program in 1998.

True’s decision to go back to school was influenced by Dr. Michael Wiese and the opportunity to be part of a cohort where he could meet other professionals and learn about different industries.  From the time of his graduation to his appointment as CEO, True’s MBA experience has helped make him a well-rounded person. During his time in the program, True gained confidence through opportunities to speak in front of groups, work on projects, and utilize skills he didn’t consider his strengths. “Textbook knowledge and business knowledge are one thing, but the other stuff is what’s important. Learning from others outside of the credit union industry and making friends who I still talk to today is what’s important.”

As an optimistic and humble man, True says you can’t be afraid to fail, but fail fast and learn from it. In his new role as CEO, he’s now more involved and more accessible throughout the company. As a believer in prospering where you’re planted, True is proud of the changes he has seen in his 25 years at FORUM. The Anderson University Falls School of Business is honored to have alumni like True, who serves as an excellent example of what hard work, creativity, and an Anderson University MBA can do for your career.

The AU MBA program is a traditional MBA program designed for the working professional. Classes meet in the evening and mostly one night each week. Most students complete the program in less than 23 months. The MBA program is offered on the Anderson campus and in several locations in the Indianapolis area. The Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) nationally accredits the Anderson University MBA program, and Anderson University is fully accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
